We want Hallowscream to be as accessible to all as possible, however due to the very nature of the event all the scare houses have tight twisting corridors, steps, steep ramps, uneven floors and low ceilings in places. It is also very noisy with extensive use of special effects including loud bangs, strobe lighting, smoke, and of course chainsaw wielding clowns!!! Because of this, access to the scare houses is not suitable for people with mobility and some sensory issues.
For visitors who hold a Nimbus Access Card showing the +1 or +2 symbol we offer a half price entry for the essential companion. Essential Companion Tickets are only available with Standard and Fast Track x5 Tickets. Sorry Essential companion tickets are not available for Extras including Corntagion, Lucifer's Lounge and Fairground Rides. To be book an essential companion ticket you need to have a Nimbus Disability Access Card. We are pleased to partner with Nimbus Disability, using their Access Card Scheme to provide our visitors with a consistent experience when accessing necessary support.

What is the difference between an Access Card and a Digital Access Pass?
An Access Card is recognised at over 2,000 venues throughout the UK and beyond. Including days out, cinema trips, holidays, festivals, spectator sport and more. You can purchase an Access Card for £15. Once you have the card, you can use this across any of the recognised venues without the need to apply again for each venue. The card is valid for 3 years. A York Maze Digital Access Pass is a FREE way of conveying your access requirements. You still go through the same process of submitting your documentation, but you’ll receive a digital number and no card. This is only valid at York Maze, Hallowscream & Hallowtween and cannot be used at other venues.
Applications can take 10 days to be processed.
Who is Eligible for an Essential Companion Ticket?
An Essential Companion ticket is available for people where support is needed that is significant and substantial and in excess of what could be reasonably expected of family/friends already accompanying the guest. The support must be due to disability-related needs. Our Essential Companion Scheme is not available to complimentary ticket holders or when zero value entry is applicable for the Access Card/ York Maze DAP holder (including children aged 2 or under who enter free of charge). How do I book an Essential Companion Ticket?
Once you have your Access Card or your York Maze Digital Access Pass Number (found on your confirmation email) you can follow the booking links on the Hallowscream website as normal. When it comes to selecting “ticket type” you will need to select “Essential Companion”, the system will then ask you to unlock the half price ticket by inputting your Access Card/ York Maze DAP I.D number. If your Access Card permits an “Essential Companion” then this will be applied and you can then proceed with your booking. You will be required to show proof of the Access Card or York Maze Digital Access Pass on admissions. Please note that we do not make the decisions on who is entitled to an “Essential Companion”. This decision is made by Nimbus Disability.
What if I don't have an Access Card or York Maze DAP before I visit?
We recommend you apply early for your Access Card or DAP. However if you need to book your tickets before you get your card, you will need book a full price ticket for the Essential Companion. Contact us when your Access Card arrives showing the +1 (or +2) symbol and we will refund the half price tickets. Please note, you have 2 weeks to apply for the refund
What if I forget to bring my Access Card or York Maze DAP?
If you booked an Essential Companion ticket you need to show your Access Card or DAP (email) on admission showing your photograph. If you don't have this with you then you will need to pay the difference for a full price ticket. Contact us with a copy of your Access Card showing the +1 (or +2) symbol within 2 weeks of your visit and we will refund the half price ticket.
